New York’s Essex House: Home To The Stars

Serving as the full-time or part-time residence of such superstars as Angelina Jolie, Jude Law, and Samuel L. Jackson, Central Park South’s Essex House sticks out atop the New York skyline for obvious reasons. How obvious? Well, the 43 story art-deco skyscraper has a huge sign on top of it the says, “Essex House”, that’s how obvious. Built in 1931, the property, which contains the Essex House hotel, was originally known as the Park Tower, but later became the Seville Tower, and is now known in full name as The Jumeirah Essex House (named for the group that oversaw it’s most recent renovations). It features about 250 condominium units ranging in size from 520 square-foot studios to five-bedroom suites, and in price from $1,050,000 to $6,550,000. The units feature room service, housekeeping, valet parking, dry cleaning, laundry services, and access to fitness and business centers. The Essex House also gained fame for being the place where Saturday Night Live put their guests up in the early days of the show. While it may no longer be the temporary home of the show’s weekly host, it still remains the permanent home of some of New York’s elite.
